I started Global Automotive as a way of giving back to a community I’ve been a part of my entire life.
I built an auto body shop in Lorton from the ground up, and retired in 2016 after selling the business. Then one day, my mother-in-law had a bad experience at an auto repair shop. They wanted to charge her at premium rates for procedures that weren’t necessary, and I guess they figured she had nowhere else to turn. So, I decided to create a place that would help people avoid being put in that situation. I established Global Automotive to be a place where people could rely on reasonable pricing, honesty, and transparency in auto repair. Also, I just love working on cars.

After 38 years of serving Lorton and Springfield at Precision Collision, RT sold his business to venture capitalists. Then, he just couldn’t stay home! So he started Global Automotive to give back to a community that has given so much to his family.
Robert French | Mercedes-Benz Master Technician
Robert is a Master Certified Mercedes-Benz Technician who has worked at dealerships throughout his entire career.
He has specialized in all makes and models, from American to European, and is trained in the very latest in cutting edge automotive technology. He began his career spending 20 years at Stohlman Oldsmobile, then worked at Lindsay Cadillac and Pontiac Sheehan for the next 6 years. Then he spent 14 years at Mercedes-Benz and another 4 at German Autogroup before coming to Global Automotive. In addition to being a Mercedes-Benz Master Technician, he is also an ASE Master Tech, and GM Master Tech.
J.W. Walker | ASE Certified Master Technician
JW Walker is a lifelong automotive enthusiast who has worked with our owner, RT, for decades.
JW started in the automotive industry fresh out of high school in ’77 at McKay Chevrolet. After 3 years, he decided he didn’t want to specialize in just one make of vehicle, so he moved on to work in gas stations, then to repair shops. After running his own shop for for 7 years, he met Robert Plate and joined him at Precision Collision. They worked there together for 13 years, and have been working together at Global Auto since its inception.
